Several doctors and experts have spoken about the third wave of infections with a variant of COVID-19 that has been detected in the country.
Variant B.1.1.7 started in mid-February. In Ontario and Alberta, 1,131 and 1,028 cases were reported in March.
Dr. Peter Juni, Scientific Director of Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, said in an interview that the new variants have already exceeded 50 percent of all cases.
For the moment, everyone is invited to maintain preventive measures to avoid contagion: use a mask, keep a reasonable distance and avoid crowded places.
Also, the Canadian government has redoubled efforts to distribute more vaccines; increasing the number of available doses significantly. At the moment, more than 3 million will arrive during the next two weeks, which will be added to the almost 5 million already supplied.
