MBA at UCW

Earning your Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree has several benefits – increased critical thinking and decision-making skills, a better understanding of how to drive the success of an organization and the ability to tackle challenging situations with confidence.

University Canada West’s ACBSP and NCMA-accredited MBA program was recently ranked #4 in the top 10 Canadian university programs by ApplyBoard and named one of the Best Online MBA Programs of 2021.

Business Courses Powered by the Latest Technology

UCW’s MBA program has been updated to include relevant digital components. The University collaborates with digital leaders such as Riipen, the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI), Tableau and IBM Design Thinking to ensure its students are staying up to date with upcoming technological trends.

And UCW has partnered with leading business and tech companies, such as Amazon, Salesforce, Shopify and Facebook, to incorporate their latest technology and expertise into its MBA program courses.

Tailored Learning

UCW’s MBA degree program has expanded to allow students to acquire more specific knowledge and skills by choosing elective courses from one of three subject areas – Leadership, Marketing or Finance.

And the University’s partnership with DMI gives students interested in pursuing a career in marketing the ability to earn two additional certifications, while they complete their MBA. Students can first earn an associate-level certification by successfully completing the Marketing Management course. They then have the option to take a set of three digital marketing electives, setting them up to take DMI’s Pearson VUE test to become a certified Digital Marketing Professional.

Additionally, thanks to a partnership between DMI and the American Marketing Association (AMA), students who complete the digital marketing electives and pass the DMI Pearson VUE test will also get AMA Professional Certified Marketer certification.

Real-World Business Experience

UCW has always focused on equipping students with practical applied skills by bringing real work experiences into the classroom. And in 2020, the University partnered with Riipen, a Vancouver-based company that brings industry and academia together. Projects with real businesses and organizations are embedded directly into the course curriculum or completed as remote internships.

“Riiipen helps us bring real-world business examples into the classroom, giving our students the hands-on experience of working with an organization,” said Dr. Gelareh Farhadian, MBA Marketing, Strategy and Entrepreneurship Department Chair. “Immersing students in these real-world industry projects equips them with work-ready skills. It’s much more practical than just looking at a case study.”

Employability

UCW students are ready to join the workforce as soon as they graduate. Academica Group has been surveying UCW alumni since 2020 and survey data has found that 100% of MBA grads find employment within six months of graduation, 88% have found employment within three months and 67% secured employment within a month of graduation.

UCW alumni work for some of the world’s largest companies and organizations, including Amazon, Apple, Telus, Nestle and Walt Disney World.
