Latincouver.ca and the City of Vancouver will bring the colourful Latin American heritage to the streets on June 26th, and you are invited! 

From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. the city will close Granville Street (between Smithe and Dunsmuir) to showcase the many flavours and sounds of the Latin American culture, and YOU CAN'T MISS IT.

Come and enjoy:

-A soccer street tournament, with the participation of the Vancouver WhiteCaps FC and Mayor Gregor Robertson as one of the players.

-An authentic Latin American open-air food court and a marketplace

-Salsa and Zumba street-dancing

-Performances by Rio Samaya, Aquizamin Garcia, Liliam Santamaria, Sergio Flores, Coral Fusion Latina, Tanga, Mexico Vivo,Dominicanisima and Spanish Passion's Flamenco Latino.

-Games and activities for children

-Interesting talks about sustainability

Carnaval del Sol on JUNE 26th, 2011:  The Day We Shine Together

Where you can enjoy the true cultural experience of a Latin American Plaza, but in Canada. Carnaval del sol is Vancouver's feature Latin American festival and part of the city's 125th anniversary events. About 20,000 attendees are expected, and we want you to participate.  Carnival Band will kick start the festival on the streets, followed by performances of Latin musicians: Tanga, Rio Samaya, Aquizamin Garcia, Liliam Santamaria, Coral Fusion Latina and Sergio Flores. Moreover, you will enjoy dance shows by  Mexico Vivo, Dominicanisima and Spanish Passion's Flamenco Latino.

• Latincouver wants to embrace Vancouver's brilliant display of multiculturalism during this one-day event.
• One of the highlights of this festival is our traditional street soccer tournament.
• Thus, our Latin American "plaza" will include an open‐air food court with authentic Latin American cuisine from different nationalities.
• Festival patrons will also enjoy an interactive cultural pavilion, which includes a Latin American Art & Crafts Marketplace and children’s activities.
